BODY & ENERGY WORK

Why is body or energy work so important? The body stores memories, muscle memory even when trauma, illness or emotional breakdown has left our memory bank. That’s why if you personally are doing something like a talk therapy, it’s important to get it out of your system as well, like follow up with some form of body work (massage, chiropractic, etc. – pedicures are bordering on just pampering – but I suppose it counts) and/or energy work, so the event or illness literally leaves your field.

For animals, (other than an Animal Communication session) they are not talking it out! So they have to release trauma or emotional upset from their body. The great news is, they frequently release the whole experience with minimal effort on your part. Meaning, if you were to go get your dog a massage after a surgery, or learn acupressure, you are not only deepening your bond, but helping them let go of the experience.

Body work is something I mention frequently in my consultations with animals. Animals instinctually are connected in a way that we aspire to be through their body, mind and spirit. Sometimes their body/mind/spirit connection gets off track a bit when illness, stress or trauma has taken over their body. But, we can assist them. If appropriate, always leave a client (person) with some aspect of this work so they can have a profound deepening with their animal through healing.

Believe it or not, this not only helps with health challenges but behavioral challenges as well. Sometimes our animal companions are “tightly wound” so to speak, and a little massage on their back legs or along the spine can inspire enough relaxation to not be so reactive. Body work can either inspire complete healing or be of great comfort for a terminal illness or trauma. This is in no means meant to be in lieu of working with a veterinarian chiropractor, acupuncturist, physical therapist or trainer.

Body and energy work are not only wonderful nurturing tools, but very therapeutic for their entire well being. There is a whole world out there of fantastic things that can open up the system and allow healing to happen in a complete way.

I have learned many different modalities over the years. I am certified in some, but more importantly, I understand the proper usage of the different healing modality I may suggest.

If you are unsure of what to do yourself, sometimes just laying on your hands with the intention of healing or love can do wonders. We are all potential vessels for great healing; the opportunity for comfort and love can be facilitated by you simply desiring to do so. At the end of the day, the true healing comes from the Divine source, The Universe, whatever your version of Spirituality is, how you express God or love, it’s all the same. If you are open to it, you are also a great facilitator of this alchemy.

If you want to learn more, look at the schedule of events for my Animal Alchemy series throughout the year where I will teach The Bio-Scalar Wave – energy work for animals and bring in other extraordinary healers and body workers. Also there will be nutritional seminars.

In the moment, if you need some help now, sometimes just laying your hands on can do miracles. Laying on of the hands is an easy thing to do to relax or send energy in. Just simply putting your hands on your animal friend can be monumental. Who doesn't need touch?! This combined with your intention to heal can start to relax an animal on such a deep level that healing can evolve from there.

If you feel like you want to get a practitioner in to help your animal companion, try looking up great practitioners of some of the following modalities:

  • Massage

  • Acupuncture

  • Chiropractic

  • Cranial Sacral work

  • Reiki

  • Healing Touch

  • TTouch

  • Aromatherapy

  • Magnets

  • Laser Therapy

  • Rife Machine

  • Herbs

  • Homeopathy

  • Flower Essences

  • Acuscope Therapy

A quick overview of some great modalities to learn about:

Acupressure is a way to release the blocks that can be standing in the way of healing or relaxation (so it benefits even behavioral issues). It stimulates the meridians, the direct link to individual organs or the nervous system. Check out Dr. Norman’s new DVD on acupressure for

TTouch is a very unique and powerful healing method created by Linda Tellington-Jones. There are a several different movements having their own special effect. The TTouch reaches in on a cellular level, releasing tension and re patterning the system. By re patterning the system, the illness can't follow it's usual track and the system can go back to it's natural healed and/or calm state.

The following is an excerpt from one of Linda Tellington-Jones many publications: (More information on her web site and books can be found under Recommended Resources.)

“The foundation of the TTouch method is based on circular movements of the fingers and hands all over the body. The intent of the TTouch is to activate the function of the cells and awaken cellular intelligence - a little like "turning on the electric lights of the body." The TTouch is done on the entire body, and each circular TTouch is complete within itself. Therefore it is not necessary to understand anatomy to be successful in speeding up the healing of injuries or ailments, or changing undesirable habits or behavior.”

To do the TTouch, imagine the face of a clock on your animal's body, half an inch to one inch in diameter. Place your lightly curved fingers at six o'clock on your imaginary clock, and push the skin around the face of the clock for one and a quarter circles. Place your thumb two to three inches from your forefinger and feel a connection between thumb and forefingers. When possible, support the body gently with your free hand, placing it opposite the hand making the circle. Maintain a steady rhythm and constant pressure around the circle and a quarter, whether the TTouch is light or firm, pay particular attention to the roundness of the circles.

After each circular TTouch you can either move to another spot at random, or you can run parallel lines on the body by making a circle with a little slide and then another circle. Both types of movements induce relaxation and improve self-confidence. By placing your free hand in a supporting position and making a connection between your two hands, this will keep the animal in balance and enhance the effect of the TTouch.

Most of the time, clockwise circles are the most effective for strengthening and rehabilitating the body, as well as improving self-confidence and performance. However, there are times when counterclockwise circles are appropriate for releasing tension. Practice the both directions and trust your fingers if they are moving in a counterclockwise direction.

In my communication (or pet psychic) practice, body work is one of the greatest tools there is. I frequently help clients from all over the country that use me by phone to get in touch with a practitioner in their area or encourage them to learn to work on their own. Sometimes I just give the client a little instruction over the phone just to get them through the time being until they get a good practitioner in to help.
