I witnessed a snake spyhop and heard the rattle like a wake up call. Until the last two days, I didn’t know that a rattlesnake could spyhop like an orca or a humpback. Maybe I’m just naïve. Maybe I haven’t spent enough time with rattlesnake energy, but what I have seen the last two days has been amazing.
Two side bars:
- I’m hoping I’m not scaring off all the people coming the spring intensive! (oh yeah, and that’s happening today!)
- A spyhop is when a whale lifts its body out of the water to look around above the surface.
My office is on the edge of a beautiful open space. My whole yard provides joy for me, my dogs and horses, my cats get to witness from their catio and ultimately, it remains a wildlife corridor. If you’ve ever been in a class with me or watching a Facebook Live, you know I have coyotes walking through while my animals have just enough fairy dust to sleep through the wander through and not notice. Daily, we witness the territorial aero dynamics of the hawk vs. raven family down to the cutest little baby bunnies, squirrels and black birds that get shooshed away by my horses as they try to hone in on my horses food.
If I were to stare out the window all day, it is truly wildlife TV.
Yesterday, this baby snake had lifted its body midway (in what would be our core) and had the ability to see afar. I thought I was dreaming it because I was mid meditation with students. And then today, I caught this moment when my dog caught sight.
Never a dull moment!!
