Back to Bimini: A Dolphin Adventure

with Joan Ranquet

June 14th – 21st, 2025

Bimini, The Bahamas

Bimini is a sensual experience. Warm, salty water. Countless shades of blue, from turquoise to sparkle. Bright sun, clear skies filled with moonlight and hammocks strung on palm trees.

And then, there are the dolphins. Swimming with them in the warm waters of the Bahamas is nurturing, healing, fun and incredibly liberating! You will never want to leave.

June brings the clearest of waters to this area of the world, making it a perfect time to see and swim with dolphins.

Why Travel with Me?

There is a magic that happens on my trips. Our daily meditations lead to a deeper connection with the natural world and a sense of quiet that magnetizes the most magical moments. While nature is wild and unpredictable we can almost guarantee you the kind of sightings and interactions with wildlife that will leave you wondering, did that just happen??

Our trips are an unusual blend. Think mystical meets naturalist meets playful adventure!

You’ll learn a lot about the natural world of each place we explore, with the opportunity for you to go from traveler to steward as you create your own relationship with the land, the people and the animals.

Plus, I’ll give you tips, tricks and tools post trip for you to take the magic home and become an ally, advocate and reporter for the places you’ve been, sharing experiences, stories, pictures and love to your wider community! All while having fun. And laughing. A lot. There may even be curse words!!

I’ve spearheaded 16 trips to swim with wild dolphins and facilitated wildlife excursions to South Africa (3 trips), Namibia, Botswana, Kenya (2 trips) and Borneo, focusing on endangered species. I have shared my expertise all over the U.S., speaking on animal communication, human/animal relationships, energy healing, and wildlife.

And the dolphins?

I have seen it time and time again. They bring up childlike wonder in people and will help reconnect you to your own innocence. To see them in their element where they are agile, free and expressing what appears to be joy at every turn, stirs the heart deeply.

Come with us.

Dip into timelessness.

Explore, play and tune into some of the planet’s most ancient wisdom and mysteries. Dolphin wisdom.

Let the waters of Bimini help refresh and reset your spirit so you return home relaxed, inspired and reconnected with your true essence.

About Joan

Animal communicator, TEDx speaker, Findhorn Press, Hay House, and Sounds True author, educator, and animal guardian Joan Ranquet leads an inspired life. It’s no surprise MSN deemed her as one of the “Top 25 People Who Do What They Love.”

Joan has connected with animals professionally for over thirty years, and she’s connected with them personally for as long as she can remember. Her calling has led her to work with hundreds of thousands of animal guardians, animal trainers, barn managers, veterinarians, sanctuaries, wildlife, rehab and therapeutic riding centers — teaching animal communication and energy healing through workshops, wildlife retreats, and private sessions.

Deemed “Celebrity Animal Communicator” in an AMC Channel documentary, Joan has been featured in dozens of media outlets including The Hollywood Reporter, “Pet Nation” on Dateline NBC, Today on NBC, Good Morning America on ABC, Animal Planet, the National Enquirer, and the Los Angeles Times.

In 2008, Joan founded CWALU (Communication With All Life University), a certification program for animal communication, energy healing and nature and wildlife that is taught online and in person.

She is the author of Emotional Freedom Technique for Animals and Their Humans: Creating a Harmonious Relationship through Tapping (Findhorn Press, 2023), Energy Healing for Animals: A Hands-On Guide for Enhancing the Health, Longevity, and Happiness of Your Pets (Sounds True, 2015) and Communication with All Life: Revelations of an Animal Communicator (Hay House, 2007). Joan contributed to The Dharma of Dogs: Our Best Friends as Spiritual Teachers (Sounds True, 2017) and The Karma of Cats: Spiritual Wisdom from our Feline Friends (Sounds True, 2019).

Joan’s TEDx Talk, “Joan Ranquet, The Rainbow Bridge, Animals in Transition has received over 423,000 views.

Joan’s hands-on animal communication and energy healing process troubleshoots behavioral and medical issues, stimulates healing (in conjunction with conventional treatment), and deepens her clients’ abilities to care for and understand their animals. She believes the capacity to attune to animals and work with them energetically is not a gift for the select few, but an innate ability we can all access with guidance. Thus, she teaches down-to-earth skills that enable her students to communicate consistently and confidently with animals.

Joan has spearheaded trips to swim with wild dolphins (16 trips). She has also facilitated wildlife excursions to South Africa (3 trips), Namibia, Botswana, Kenya (2 trips) and Borneo, focused on endangered species. A highlight for Joan was teaching animal communication in Beijing, China in 2018. In addition to foreign trips, Joan has shared her expertise all over the U.S., speaking on animal communication, human/animal relationships, energy healing, and wildlife

Today, Joan lives on her ranchette in the gorgeous hills of southern California with her devoted animal family: three horses, three dogs, and three cats. She donates her time to animal rescue missions, sanctuaries and therapeutic riding centers, and is an avid fundraiser for organizations focused on rescue, recovering, and rehabilitation of compromised animals and endangered species.

Joan has served as Star-Lioness – an advisory/sounding board for the Global White Lion Protection Trust – and on the Spiritual Council for The Gentle Barn. Joan is the co-founder of Jill and Joan Healing, a company providing acupressure classes for animals and hemp-based pet products with holistic veterinarian, Dr. Jill Todd.

About the Dolphin Dream, its Captain and Staff

The M/V Dolphin Dream and Team is a comfortable and spacious Bahamas liveaboard, providing the ultimate experience of dolphin snorkeling and scuba diving. This magnificent ocean expedition trawler yacht is 86′ x 26′ in size, designed to offer comfort and safety while sailing through the seas. The vessel has been refitted to ensure that it offers the best ocean encounters that are easy, safe, and fun.

When it comes to the Dolphin Dream Team, you can be assured that you are in good hands. Captain Scott, who has over 40 years of experience with scuba diving and snorkeling in the same area of the Bahamas, is an expert who knows these waters and the wild dolphins like the back of his hand. His crew is a consistent, experienced, knowledgeable, professional, and fun team that ensures that you have an unforgettable experience.

Unlike fleet boats, the “Dolphin Dream” is owner-operated by Captain Scott, which makes a significant difference in the condition of the boat and level of service. Captain Scott spends more time on the boat than he does on land, making it his true home. He always ensures that the boat is clean, running well, and has good food onboard.

The “Dolphin Dream” is built and equipped well above any safety standards for its size vessel. It and its US crew are held to the highest USA standards, above and beyond many non-US vessels. The vessel has twin major equipment, air conditioning, safety chase boat, and all the other redundant equipment to make your life on board comfortable and safe. All these features are aimed at providing you with the best live-aboard snorkeling and diving experience.

The vessel has five spacious cabins with full-size upper and lower bunk beds and one large cabin with a double bed, providing accommodation for a maximum of 12 clients. These cabins are located in the most comfortable place on the boat, ensuring that you have a good night’s sleep.

The interior salon is located on the main deck, making it comfortable and spacious. The salon has benches and chairs surrounding two tables for dining. The galley and salon are separated by a serving counter. The separate drink counter has a refrigerator, ice maker, coffee pots, and a sink. There is plenty of room with electricity for cameras, computers, and chargers. The vessel has a TV, DVD, stereo, and book and video library.

There are two spacious heads with showers, an outside shower, and plenty of fresh water.

Life on a live aboard is informal and relaxing, comfortable and clean. You will encounter a stress-free atmosphere where fun and excitement are encouraged. The days are spent experiencing nature, and the nights are spent anchored under the stars. The Dolphin Dream Team avoids tourist traps, ensuring that you have an authentic experience.

All US food, drinks, and supplies are onboard to make outstanding home-style cooking. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are prepared fresh. Snacks including fruit, nuts, and sweets are always available. Refreshments such as ice water, a variety of soda, juices, coffee, hot and cold tea, and lemonade are included. Notify the team ahead of time, and they can accommodate any special dietary needs.

The back deck has tables for cameras and socializing, a fresh water rinse bin, personal shelves, and stairs to the upper deck. The large built-in platform has scuba tanks and benches. The water is just a short distance from the entrance, and there is a ladder to climb out on.

The upper deck has a dinghy (for rescues), gear storage boxes, a sundeck for sunbathing, and a covered deck to stay out of the sun with plenty of space for dolphin watching. The large bow fore deck is another great place to relax and enjoy the expansive, beautiful view of the ocean.

The vessel’s 3rd deck is where the dolphin searching and driving controls are located, providing the best visibility for dolphins and people.

F.A.Q.s

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the accommodation like?

Bunk style cabins, with two people to a room. Think cozy meets rustic. There are no single spaces available on this trip.

What kinds of dolphins will we be swimming with?

The Atlantic Spotted Dolphin (Stenella frontalis) and the Common Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus).

What are the main hazards on a trip like this?

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Seasickness

It happens to the best of us. If you have any concern around your ability to live aboard a boat for the entirety of the trip, talk to your doctor about options. There is a prescription patch and Dramamine is the over-the-counter remedy. Seabands are also helpful to mitigate nausea!

Jellyfish

There may be stinging jellyfish in the waters. The boat team knows how to deal with stings and will be able to assist you! There is a stingless jellyfish called the Moon Jellyfish, but nothing to be afraid of!

Sharks

Sharks are common in any ocean waters. But shark season in the Bahamas is October through April, so it’s not the height of their activity during our trip in June. While we can’t guarantee 100% safety, it is highly unlikely an attack will occur. The waters are clear and the team will be looking out for you. This is a low risk.

Do I need travel insurance?

While it is not required, we highly recommend it. Make sure the company knows you are swimming with dolphins and scuba diving, if you so choose.

What will the air and water temperatures be?

Air: 76F (24C) to 90F (32C)

Water: 78F (25C) to 86F (30C)

What should I pack?

Space is limited, the vessel is very casual, and the air temperature is usually quite warm. Bring 3-4 bathing suits, a pair of shorts, a couple t-shirts and a windbreaker. We also recommend deck shoes/sandals, suntan lotion (non-oil, reef safe) and sunglasses. The sun can be intense so you may want to wear a light, long sleeve shirt and a hat.

Bring any medicines and toiletries you need. Soap and shampoo are provided. Feel free to bring books and personal electronics or music devices for free time. Please mark all personal items and dive gear with name and address.

2 large towels per person are provided for the entire trip. We have no washer or dryer on board. You may want to bring one or two personal towels for use after diving.

Can I bring my own snacks and drinks?

Within reason, yes! Beer is provided onboard, but no wine. You’re welcome to bring your favorite drinks along with you. And snacks to keep you happy and healthy.
